Do you know Spiritbox?

Spiritbox Metalcore / Heavy Metal Band

Spiritbox is a female fronted Progressive Petal band, or to some a Metalcore band. As such to most elitist or purist metal fans, Spiritbox is a mediocre or even trash band automatically. These types of metal fans would likely skip right over them as soon as they accidently hear Blessed Be or Constance. Mostly because these tracks are not loud & aggressive. However I feel like the whole concept of "genres" has limited creative freedom of bands. There is very little difference between most new metal bands because they all do the same thing, and regurgitate the exact same content and style. Most overemphasize the importance of screaming, guitar solos, or how heavy a track needs to be to create a proper heavy metal track. It is no wonder that everyone mentions bands that are decades old as being the best in the genre.

Spiritbox Metalcore / Heavy Metal Band
I like bands that can show they are not one trick ponies, who are able to create a variety of music styles, and excel no matter what type of artistic expression they want to use. The great thing about newer metal bands in the last decade is that they have broken from some of the tropes that make most metal bands, and songs in general unpopular. There is a reason most people would say metal is just "noise", or it is just "Screaming", and so on. It is the fact that everyone is doing the same thing that most don't even consider real music, or have zero lyrics in the entire track that you can hear.

Spiritbox Album - Metalcore / Experimental
When Spiritbox desires they are able to create some of the heavy metal tracks that most heavy metal fans crave, such as in this banger Holy Roller or in Belcarra. There is no sick long guitar solos, but they are able to make heavy metal hitters that are also catchy. If you are in to music video's, the settings they choose for their tracks, the transitions they use, and the style of shots and clothing blend in so perfectly with the song to really enhance the experience of the tracks.

Spiritbox Single - Metalcore / Experimental
With Spiritbox getting signed to Rise Records last September I hope to see some more amazing singles in the future, and hopefully a new album soon if world events haven't made things to difficult for them. Anyways If you never heard of this band, check them out, I am sure they have at least a single track that you will enjoy, even if you hate their genre of music. They really got something for everyone.

Until next time,
